Your Best Leicestershire Week Is Just Getting Started

Whatever day you are reading this, there is still plenty of brilliant Leicestershire to look forward to before the week is out.

The week builds to a magnificent Saturday at Conkers in Moira, where Soul Collective takes to the stage for an unforgettable live music experience. A full band fronts a night of iconic soul hits spanning decades of classic albums, and if that sounds like exactly the kind of evening that deserves a proper night out, you would be absolutely right. Clear your Saturday, tell the babysitter to arrive early, and prepare to dance until your feet argue with you. Also on Saturday, Leicester's Curve Theatre hosts A Night To Remember Motown Show, bringing the irresistible warmth and shimmy of Motown's greatest moments to one of the East Midlands' finest stages. Then on Sunday, Illyria's outdoor production of The Three Musketeers swings into action somewhere suitably swashbuckling in Leicestershire, running from 7pm to 9:30pm. All for one and one for all is the spirit, and frankly that is the right attitude for a family summer evening. Sunday also rewards those with a curiosity for history. The Bosworth Myths talk at 2:30pm invites you to sit with a knowledgeable Battlefield Guide and unpick the legends and half-truths that have clung to 1485 for five centuries — wonderfully thought-provoking stuff. Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, Hinckley's Bike Spectacular brings two wheels, good spirits, and a celebration of everything that makes Hinckley a genuinely fun destination to the town centre, so dust off the panniers and pedal in. When you fancy something at your own pace, the Bosworth1485 Trail around Market Bosworth lets you walk the actual ground where history pivoted on a single August day — two stories in one landscape, stretching back over 500 years. For high drama of the Iron Age variety, Burrough Hill Country Park near Melton Mowbray rises magnificently above eastern Leicestershire, its ancient hillfort rewarding the climb with sweeping views and a real sense of deep time. And in Loughborough, the family-friendly Charnwood Museum, nestled inside the lovely Queens Park, is the kind of place that turns a gentle morning into a genuine discovery. The forecast this week is frankly showing off. Temperatures are set to climb into the low-to-mid thirties by midweek, with mainly clear skies and warm evenings that seem almost designed for outdoor theatre and hillfort rambles. There is a cooler, cloudier day or two for museum visits and indoor evenings at the theatre. However your week is shaped, Leicestershire has something that fits it beautifully — so go on, start planning today.
